What is repairability index?

The repairability index is designed to inform consumers about the possibility to repair a product. The repairability index is a score out of 10 based on criteria defined by The Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Minister for the Economy and Finance of France. The parameters include: technical documentation availability period; instructions for use and maintenance; ease of disassembling the product; tools required for disassembling; characteristics of the fasteners; availability of spare parts; price of spare parts.

What does the score mean?

What do the colors of the repairability index mean?

Colors are used to indicate index scores. The colors equate to scores as follows:

  • Score greater than or equal to 0 and less than or equal to 1.9: red
  • Score greater than or equal to 2 and less than or equal to 3.9: orange
  • Score greater than or equal to 4 and less than or equal to 5.9: yellow
  • Score greater than or equal to 6 and less than or equal to 7.9: light green
  • Score greater than or equal to 8 and less than or equal to 10: dark green

Can my phone be repaired if it has a low rating?

A device always has the chance to be repaired by an authorized service center. The index helps to indicate how easily a customer can repair the phone by themselves.
